Highland-Clarksburg Hospital is a not for profit psychiatric hospital located in Clarksburg, WV. The WV Healthcare Authority approved a Certificate of Need for 150 beds as follows:

Highland-Clarksburg Hospital provides services for acutely mentally ill patients. Services are provided 24 hours a day on an on-going basis. The goal of treatment is to stabilize the patient and assist in their return to the community.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Highland-Clarksburg Hospitals is a member of the Governing Board. The responsibility for the provision and oversight of professional clinical services is delegated to the Medical Director, who is a board certified psychiatrist. Clinical care of patients is carried out by multidisciplinary treatment teams, each under the direction of a physician. Social Work/Therapy staff are managed by a Program Manager who reports to the Director of Therapy and Social Work. Nursing Staff report to Nurse Manager. All report to Director of Nursing.
Each patient is assigned to a multi-disciplinary treatment team which is composed of a physician, nurse, therapist, case manager, recreational specialist and others as appropriate. This team assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the patient’s care. Therapy may include medication, individual and group therapy, education, as well as recreational modalities. Specialty medical services are provided on a consultative basis. All professionals fulfill federal, state, and local requirements for licensing, registration, and certification as required by the Joint Commission and CMS regulations with required documentation maintained in personnel files. Physicians are credentialed and privileged in a manner defined by the Medical Staff Bylaws of Highland-Clarksburg Hospital. Department heads or designated professionals are responsible to the CEO and Chief Medical Officer/Chief Clinical Officer to ensure that professional standards are met in selection and assignment of staff and for the monitoring and evaluation of the quality of care provided in their disciplines. Department heads or designated professionals are further responsible for providing supervision of their staff and opportunities for professional growth. The Chief Medical Officer exercises professional oversight over the professional, clinical, and administrative issues affecting the Medical Staff.

Highland-Clarksburg Hospital announced it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care. The Joint Commission generally reviews a Hospital’s accreditation on a tri-annual basis. Highland-Clarksburg’s original accreditation was October 2013.
